A London hotelier who boosted his career with the UK’s leading independent hotel management company, RBH, is attributing his successful career progression to a pioneering talent development programme.
Farrukh Shahdasab graduated from RBH’s Pyramid Programme – which is open to ambitious Heads of Department across the business’s portfolio of more than 40 hotels – in August 2016.
Since graduating, the 36-year-old progressed from Rooms Division Manager to his current role of Deputy General Manager at Holiday Inn Express London – Southwark.
Pyramid is an excellent learning platform where candidates can take part in sessions led by industry experts. It gave me the opportunity to focus on my personal development which was ideal, as I held aspirations of progression into a leadership role.
It helped me identify areas for improvement and demonstrated how to adopt a very balanced approach in order to lead a successful business.”
All candidates on the programme are personally mentored and participate in a series of hotel business masterclasses designed to hone their skills. The workshops cover topics such as leadership, quality control, managing risk, people management, profit generation and operational excellence as contributory factors of a profitable business.
It was such a rewarding process, but also very challenging. I really had to push myself out of my comfort zone and take a leap of faith at times to help develop my skills and make decisions to improve the business.
I would recommend the programme to anyone who wants to see first-hand how exciting the hospitality industry can be, and to challenge themselves to help boost their career progression.”
