RBH Chief Financial Officer, David Hart, joined an expert panel at the world’s most influential hotel investment event in Berlin.

On the International Hotel Investment Forum (IHIF) panel alongside David were Mark Daliere of Dentons, Joanne Owen of Proskauer and Paul Pisani of Corinthia Hotels.

Moderated by Chris Martin of HVS Hodges Ward Elliott, the panel formed the ‘Management Contract Clinic’ to discuss management contract ‘bugbears’ and challenges put forward by the IHIF community – as well as possible solutions.

The wide range of topics covered included the effectiveness of performance tests, ownership of guest data and GDPR, the acquisition of Starwood by Marriott, actual expectations of owners compared to contract provisions and the difficulty of interacting main hotel management agreements with sub-agreements for bespoke operations.

David Hart, Chief Finance Officer at RBH, said: “I was very pleased to be invited onto the panel, particularly for the Management Contract Clinic, and the challenges presented by the IHIF community raised some really interesting points for discussion.

“Given that RBH manages operations at more than 70 hotels across various brands, as well as independent properties, I believe I was able to give a fresh take on many of the topics. I had the chance to put forward the third party operator view, which is very different to those working within a brand-managed environment. It was great to have the opportunity to participate, and I hope those who came along took as much from the session as I did.”
RBH’s portfolio includes private label and branded properties, including IHG, Hilton, Accor, Marriott and Wyndham hotels.
