Holiday Inn Express London - Southwark is reaping the rewards of a multi-million pound refurbishment, with bumper results reported since its new look was unveiled.

The south London property - which commands a corner location on the city’s Southwark Street – benefitted from a £3.8 million makeover, completed over a nine month period.

Thanks to the substantial investment which was overseen by RBH, the UK’s leading hotel management company, a brand new extension featuring 12 of Holiday Inn Express’s ‘Next Generation’ bedrooms was built; with refurbishment work on the remaining 90 bedrooms undertaken. The building’s façade was also transformed, vastly improving the image of the hotel.

Following the reveal of the new look in July 2017, the hotel experienced an immediate upturn in results, with year-on-year RevPAR growth of 7.5 percent for 2017 – outperforming the market, and its competitors, by more than two percent.

And, as the year heads towards its close, the property is already heralding further growth, outperforming competitors with a further 1.5 per cent positive index growth and a 4.6 per cent rate growth for the year to date – up 4.3 per cent on the rest of the market.

Andrew Robb, Chief Business Development Officer at RBH, said:

We’re exceptionally proud of the achievements at Holiday Inn Express London - Southwark since unveiling the results of significant investment in the hotel in 2017.

To be performing so strongly against a backdrop of increasing competition in the area over the past three years is testament to the success of the refurbishment programme. The project itself was substantial and complex, from location challenges to the procurement of furniture, fittings and equipment, but has added value and transformed the hotel. We are also delighted that we have grown our overall guest satisfaction at the hotel by over 13 percent since the beginning of 2017 and this is driven by a great team at the hotel.”
